1. Who we are

2. What we collect and why

We collect personal information only when it is necessary to respond to your request or to provide our services. Here is what we collect depending on the form you fill out:

• Contact form: your name, email address, phone number and the content of your message. We use this information to answer you.
• Obituary submission form: the submitter's contact details (name and contact information), the deceased's information, the notice text, photos and ceremony details. We use this information to prepare and publish the notice with the family's authorization.
• Condolence messages sent through the site: your name, email address and your message. We use this information to pass your message on to the family.
• Quote requests for flowers or memorial products: your name, contact details, delivery details and your card message. We use this information to prepare the quote and fill the order.

We do not sell your personal information and do not use it for advertising.

3. Cookies and audience measurement

By default, our site only sets cookies that are essential to its operation. Google Analytics 4 is activated only if you accept it in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time using the "Manage cookies" link in the footer. We do not set any advertising cookies.

4. Service providers and transfers outside Quebec

We use the following service providers, whose servers may be located outside Quebec:

• GoHighLevel: website hosting and customer relationship management, United States.
• Google: Google Analytics, United States, activated only with your consent.
• WBT Agency Inc.: website management and IT services, Quebec.

Your personal information may therefore be stored outside Quebec. We assessed these transfers and require appropriate safeguards.

5. Retention

• Contact messages and quote requests: 3 years.
• Condolence messages: 3 years.
• Obituaries: kept as a public memorial unless the family asks for removal.
• Order accounting records: 7 years (tax law requirement).

6. Your rights

You have the right to access your personal information, request its correction, withdraw your consent, request its deletion or de-indexing where the law allows, and receive it in a structured technological format. To exercise these rights, write to info@letoiledunord.ca. We answer within 30 days. You may also file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (www.cai.gouv.qc.ca).

7. Security and confidentiality incidents

The site uses HTTPS everywhere and access to information is limited to authorized staff. If an incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d'accès à l'information and the people concerned, and we keep an incident register.

8. Minors

The site is not directed at children under 14. We do not knowingly collect their information without parental consent.

9. Changes

We may update this page. The last updated date shown at the top of the page will then be changed accordingly.
